Who is stupider?

Fans of stupidity — and who among us isn't? — it's time to vote.

The Late Show with David Letterman has a Stupid Pet Trick vs. Stupid Human Trick competition going on now.

Go here for videos and to vote.

Each day you can cast your vote for your favorite pet trick or human trick. Today, for example, the competitors are a woman who spits out her gum and sucks it back in and a medical student who feeds his wife spaghetti using his nose.

Yesterday's pet tricks were a dog who says "I love you" and a dog with a monkey on his back who goes down a slide.

My choice from yesterday was not the winner.

The ultimate challenge — pet vs. human — will take place April 1-5.

Coming up is one of the most memorable stupid pet tricks: the duck who eats cottage cheese out of a woman's mouth.

Vote early, vote often.

Cuteness alert: halftime kitties

Dan Hopper of bestweekever.tv made a difficult choice Sunday: whether to watch an aging rock band play during the Super Bowl halftime or kitties!

In my opinion, he made the wrong choice (aging rock band — oh, listen, honey, they're playing the theme to CSI), but he wisely tuned in to one of the 140 airings of Puppy Bowl VI.

Hopper provides a link to the kitties halftime show. I suggest you watch it over and over and over.

As I said to some friends yesterday, the Puppy Bowl was really good this year. I actually watched the whole time after I got home from the newsroom.

Previous years, the pups — with one or two exceptions — weren't that feisty.

A commercial moment

I'm not endorsing or recommending Pup-Peroni, but I think the commercial is cute.

Here is it.

Potential Nielsen viewer?

The owner of this cat and dog videotaped them playing, and the cat apparently likes to watch it on TV. Of course, the dog can't be bothered.

Do your pets watch television, or do they have better things to do? Kate prefers to curl up with a good book — not reading it, silly, just curling up with it.

If the cat in video likes TV so much, I wonder what it thought of the ending to The Sopranos.

Creature Comforts

A new series on CBS should be fun. I watched the BBC version of "Creature Comforts" when it was shown on BBC America. I loved it.

The series premieres Monday, June 4 at 8 p.m. (ET)

The Americanized version — by the immensely talented people at Aardman Animations (think Wallace and Grommit, and if you don't know and love them, shame on you) — features stop-action clay figures mouthing real-person interviews of your fellow Americans.

Here's a clip from the CBS series.

And here's a clip from the BBC version with a hamster talking about cats and dogs. Albania, indeed.

What about the swimsuit competition?

A new TV show that aims to find the cutest puppy in the United States begins Saturday.

The WE network's "America's Cutest Puppy" will air at 9 p.m. ET.

The pooches will be judged on cuteness for the first round and playfulness for the second. The third round is called "Up Close and Personal," which the show's PR says will allow the dogs to "kiss up to the judges." Just so long as they keep the sniffing to a minimum.

The burning question to me is, what about Sanjaya?
