I want a chew toy and a rubber ball and ...

It was pictures-with-Santa day at Petco Saturday in the Town of Poughkeepsie. The store was giving the photos away to customers who made a purchase.

Jeff Knapp of Highland brought his 1-1/2-year-old Great Dane Amigo for a portrait.

It took a while, because Amigo couldn't stand to be away from Knapp for even a second, constantly looking at him instead of concentrating on Santa.

As you can see, Santa had his hands full.

Here are some other pictures from the event.

On Saturday, Dec. 12, at Petco on Route 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can have your pet's photo taken with Santa, but it will cost $8.95, $5 of which goes to support P.A.N.T. — Partnership for Animals Needing Transition.

Pix with Santa for your pets

Want your pet's picture taken with Santa?

Then head down to Petco in Poughkeepsie Saturday for a benefit for the Dutchess County SPCA.

On Location Studios will be taking pictures of leashed or crated pets and their owners from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the 1933 South Road location.

DCSPCA Executive Director Joyce Garrity said the Santa will be animal experienced and people can do several poses and then chose which they like.

People will go to the studio to choose the print and pick up their photos. A color studio 5x7 portrait is $10. Reprints, enlargements and holiday cards are available.

If you want to see the video from last year, it is below.

The shelter is also accepting gifts for its animals, such as steel bowls, toys, blankets and canned food. Dry food will be accepted for the Community Pet Pantry.

'Tis the season

Does your pet get everything it wants for Christmas?

Perhaps you need to go directly to the man.

A mall in Zanesville, Ohio, had its annual Pets Photos with Santa the other day and the Journal's sister paper, the Zanesville Times Recorder did a story on it.

So, do you put up a stocking for your pet? Do you give your pet wrapped gifts?

Let me know.
