Down memory lane with Ellen

I thought my memory was right about this not being Ellen's first time giving back a dog.

The New York Times reported back in 2003 that DeGeneres had to find a new home for a mixed breed puppy she had because of her cats.
"If there has been any discord in Ms. DeGeneres's life recently, it has been the way her two cats reacted to Lucy, her mixed-breed puppy. They were 'not thrilled with having dog energy' around the house, she said, 'especially puppy energy.' So she had to find Lucy a new home."
She had the dog on the show when she first got it and had a contest to name the pooch.

I think Ellen needs to seriously consider not getting another dog.

I remember that pup and wondered what happened to it. Now I am not saying giving away that dog was right or wrong but didn't those people that just adopted Iggy(is that the dogs name?)to her didn't they think to check to see if she gave a dog away first or why she did and if she had cats and if the cats were ok with a dog coming into their environment? Yes she should have called the agency but they should have checked things out themselves before adopting a dog to her.

I agree. I think there is enough blame to go around. But it is so sad that the agency is getting death threats.

Why, indeed, didn't the agency check into whether the dog would get along with the cats or vice versa?

Oh the death threats and whatever else that agency has had to deal with is totally uncalled for. No one deserves that at all.

We have a wonderful shelter dog named Flo, whom we adopted from DSPCA. While we'd love to adopt another dog, we can't because Flo doesn't get on well with other pooches. (The folks at DSPCA knew this and told us when we indicated our interest in Flo.) We also had to sign an agreement that we could not give Flo away to anyone else. Of course, we read the agreement before we signed. We had a full understanding of our obligations, limitation, and responsibilities. So too should Ms. DeGeneres. I for one am sick of celebrities who think they are not subject to rules. I'm sure the policies of Mutts and Moms are informed by experiences they've had in the past.
